If I decide I want to do a "nice" for someone, I first imagine the "nice," the act, the payoff, the person "getting" what I intend to give.
...and it's like I've plunged a needle into a vein and hooked up an IV of Pleasure to drip into my system...
Between when I have the thought to do the "nice" and all the actions and thoughts I'll have related to the payoff, the Giving, I, not the recipient, get to enjoy the drug, Kindness.
When I finally do Give, and the act has left my physical body, the gift Given, the deed done, the gift or whatever, delivered, received, I have been enjoying the steady drip from the IV...
In the future, I may recall the event and note that I still get Pleasure from the memory itself, the hookup from that past act of kindness, a gift that keeps on Giving.
The recipient's enjoyment, in all reality, may be considerably less than mine.
Who, then, do I Give for?
Am I neither good nor bad, merely pleasure-seeking?
Kindness has always been legal in all 50 states, to my knowledge.
Kindness is not muled in from abroad, stuffed in suitcases, secreted in smell-proof containers.
Kindness has not, to my knowledge, been the target of any pharmaceutical or textile plot to thwart consumption through misinformation and / or special-interest based legislation or media campaigns.
Kindness is not shrink-wrapped in kilo bricks and loaded on pallets and shipped in cargo boats under false bills of lading.
Kindness does not come with a warning label, contraindications, and receives no FDA scrutiny.
Kindness is free.
Kindness can be trafficked and pedaled throughout the world without Interpol concern.
Kindness, observed, can cause a positive emotional response in a witness who is neither giver or receiver...
