Yesterday, Kathy and I spoke with a trained hypnotherapist who told us one of the most common things he hears when people learn that he does hypnotherapy is, "I want to quit smoking and / or overeating..."
The hypnotherapist told us his reflexive reply to them is, "No you don't. You still love to smoke or overeat, you just feel guilty doing it."
Through mindfulness, he is able to help them get to the root causes of WHY they want to engage in what their brain is telling them is self-destructive. Why would a person want to hurt themselves deliberately and repetitively?
Why DOES someone do something that their mind labels BAD? Their mind says, "NO," but the body gets it's way and they seem caught in a loop.
Does it have to do with genes or does it have something to do with self love?
Maybe it's gas.

Hidden within a person's tissues are methyl gases which are part of a person's gene structure, like DNA strands, but gaseous. Those gaseous methyl structures, like a person's DNA double-helix strands, contain "information" and are effectively a collective batch of subroutines that are passed along genetically. Things like anxiety, fear of public speaking, a penchant for sports, etc. are things that are inherited like eye color and height, etc., which explains why identical twins separated at birth, but if they find each other later in life, they are astounded that, though raised in different homes, they both like golf, have a son named Phillip, and they aren't good at math, odd "coincidences" that are unexplained by imprinted behavior and environment, parental example, all that. These subroutines or gas-based behavior patterns are thought to run like processor-sucking background programs on a person's "computer" and are rooted in the unconsciousness, the autonomic programming that happens in conjunction with the body / mind complex, much of the "iceberg" below the behavioral "tip" protruding from the ocean of unconsciousness.
Also, things like compulsive eating, and by compulsive, I mean cycles of eating that cause stress and guilt.
What if, despite their different upbringings, both hypothetical twins find themselves eating emotionally when stressed?
If it's bad for me, why am I eating it?
My mouth and my brain say don't eat that, but my body seems to be calling the shots.
Maybe the reason lies in the methyl gases.
These methyl gases or "epigenes" have been the subject of a lot of research. Epigenetics and their impact to a person's health has inspired work and study by people interested in improving health in not just the alternative healing world, but in Western medicine as well.
Singing bowls and sound therapy and traditional sounds using Earth-tuned frequencies are part of that. Like kidney stones that can be dissolved with specific frequencies and DNA repairs that are done using 528Hz trained on the gene. Both alternative and Western-medical practitioners are harnessing the power of sound in trying to create a positive impact on health.
Methyl gases react to sound and vibration and intention and during sound therapy, those gases are temporarily and sometimes permanently altered and some of the "soft coded," "gas-based" traits or behaviors, with intention, may experience a change for the positive. The "positive" or harmonic vibration signature in hertz and intention can direct a frequency into the body's waters and, like sonic therapy and frequency trained on kidneys can alleviate and dissolve kidney stones, certain frequencies and intention "trained" non-specifically on the body can shift or alter perceptions, provide clarity and insight and effectively illuminate or shine a light on behavior and it's core cause without trauma to the experiencer.
Our intention is to share these healing sounds with people in a way that honors each person's process, without judgment or criticism, simply an open approach that seeks results through experimentation, intention, and of course, sound.
Our workshop at our home last month had a room of ten people engaged in discussions about food, eating, behavioral patterns that seem "out of control" of the mind, and the cycles of eating / abstaining / succumbing / feeling guilty / abstaining / succumbing that almost all in the room could relate to.
Beneath these self-destructive behaviors are people, like me and Kathy, who are trying to take care of themselves and still remain "communal," or in commune with their tribes. Often, "unequally yolked," food-wise, can feel like a burden. But is there a way to navigate one's own personal food journey, if food is part of the journey? Unlike tobacco, alcohol or anything that a person CAN live without, how can one walk the world of food that sustains, nourishes, but doesn't cause trauma?
Why DO I eat THAT?
Is food part of your Hero's Journey?
If food or some behavior is part of the Shadow Work that you would like to explore, following the discussion, a healing sound journey who's intention is to change your vibration and, coupled with your intention, maybe part of the keys to freedom you've been searching for that lie hidden inside you.
