We told our friend Leo about Project Plant. He said he would be happy to serenade a plant with the idea or intention that *this* Jade plant would send positive, healing energy to a sister Jade plant in the home of someone needing a little extra love. This is for you, Elizabeth!
- Kathy, knitting needles
- Leo, djembe
- Danny, two propane tank bottoms welded together
A friend of ours gave us the book, "The Secret Life of Plants," and all it did was give us ideas. The book chronicles research from the countless scientific experiments with plant-to-human communication. We always loved nature and a good hug from a tree, but this book explains that connection even more deeply.
Our friend shared that his mother-in-law, Elizabeth, was very ill, so we decided to do our own experiment.
We wondered what would happen if they sang to a Jade plant from our little foyer at the cafe, then, we passed the plant on to Elizabeth along with a video of the plant being serenaded.
We hoped that the pleasant surprise of the gesture from strangers would touch her in a way that would promote healing. The idea to do this seemed to spring from that place inside that authors those impulses acts of kindness that make you think, "Hey, I'm gonna follow through and do that!"
Here's the video, but more importantly, here's to following through on those ideas to do something nice for someone that seem to spring from the best place inside.
